Depart from New York or Washington,
DC for your flight to Cape Town, South Africa via Johannesburg on South African Airways. |

Upon arrival at Johannesburg International Airport you
will go through immigration and clear customs. You will
be met by a South African Airways Vacations
representative, who will hand over documentation. You
will then re-check your bags and proceed to the Domestic
Terminal for your onward flight to Cape Town.
On arrival at Cape Town Airport you will be met by a
South African Airways Vacations representative, and
personally assisted with your luggage, handed your
documentation and finally escorted to your private
transfer to your hotel.
With a classically inspired exterior and gracefully

mountain range. Steeped in over 300 years of history,
the former guard house, tea room, hotel and the hunting
lodge of Lord Charles Somerset has been elegantly
restored with the charm and sophistication of the Grand
Old Cape. The style of cuisine at The Roundhouse is
uncomplicated, contemporary French, inspired by seasonal
ingredients and paired with one of the finest boutique
wine collections in South Africa. Hospitality at The

3 |
After breakfast depart on your full day Cape Peninsula &
Table Mountain tour.
The tour starts early with a trip up Table Mountain in a
cable car (weather permitting). Table Mountain is well
known for its spectacular views. After making your
descent you begin the Cape Peninsula tour. See for
yourself how this spectacular southern tip of Africa
became known as the 'Fairest Cape'. Drive past the
pristine beaches of Camps Bay, Clifton and Llandudno -
currently the hottest real estate in the world - to Hout
Bay, a functioning harbor and heart of the local
crayfish industry (optional Seal Island cruise, time
permitting).
After a stop for lunch it's on to the Cape of Good Hope
Nature Reserve, where you are able to ride the Funicular
to the scenic viewing point where the Indian and
Atlantic Oceans meet. The spectacular sea and mountain
views are reason enough to make the 66km/41miles trip
from Cape Town. Amid the rocky landscape - home to
mountain zebra, eland and ostriches - blooms magnificent
Cape flora. Continue along the coastline to the
beautiful Boulders Beach where you can sit among a
colony of penguins. Our last stop is the naval port of
Simon's Town, the country's third oldest European
settlement. Return to your hotel in the late afternoon.

After breakfast, at the hotel the remainder of the day
is at leisure.
Cape Town is a city with a diverse range of attractions,
sights and activities to offer and it has something for
everyone. From the landmark beaches of Clifton and Camps
Bay to the vibrant V&A Waterfront and Cape Town city
center - time spent in Cape Town will not be forgotten.
Cape Town is a sophisticated city at the gateway to a
majestic continent. The Mother City is a place where old
and new harmoniously converge - in history,
architecture, cultural pursuits and the essence of its
people. Warmed by the African sun, the city is set on a
peninsula of soaring, rocky heights and lush valleys,
where two oceans converge- Indian and Atlantic. Immense
natural beauty and the fast pace and bright lights of a
great urban centre meld effortlessly here.

After breakfast you will take a private transfer to
Franschhoek where you will spend three nights at
Franschhoek Country House & Villas, in 5 star hotel
accommodations in the heart of the Franschhoek valley.
Situated on the outskirts of the Franschhoek Village,
only 1km from the main town it is an ideal base to
indulge your tastes for fine wines and world class
cuisine.
The Franschhoek Country House & Villas (an hour's drive
from the city) offers luxury and indulgence. This
restored manor house and former perfumery dating back to
1890. With14 luxury rooms - most lead out onto balconies
or private patios.
The luxurious Villa Suites offer opulence and space in a
relaxed country setting. Arguably the best suites on
offer in the Winelands, they include a separate lounge,
bedroom and picturesque bathroom and 2 private
balconies.
Entering into a welcome atmosphere of luxury the
spacious lounge includes comfortable seating
arrangements and an in-room dining facility. The lounge
leads out onto a large private balcony with loungers to
relax and enjoy the gardens and views. The separate
bedroom is luxuriously appointed with all the expected
amenities and facilities, lush duvets, quality percale
linen and a choice of pillows to make you feel at home.
The ambience is one of a French provincial village,
complete with water features, fountains, cobblestones
and olive trees. The famous Monneaux Restaurant ranks
among South Africa's top restaurants, and serves an
inspired contemporary take on the classics. Lunch is
enjoyed on the fountain terrace under a spreading pepper
tree while dinner is enjoyed in the elegant but relaxed
dining room in the original manor house. The wine list
emphasizes the boutique wines of the Franschhoek Valley
as well as an impressive selection of other award
winning wines of South Africa.

6 |
Today you will go on a full-day private Winelands Tour
including a Nederburg wine tour, wine tasting and mezze
platter for lunch.
Travel to Paarl which proudly bears the title of the
third-oldest town in South Africa. Just outside Paarl is
Drakenstein Prison, where Nelson Mandela spent his last
years of captivity and started his walk to freedom.
Paarl offers a diversity of attractions - from museums
and galleries, to shops selling handmade gifts and
products made by local crafters. Today's goal is to
discover a gastronomic feast! Starting at Fairview Wine
Estate, sample some of the goat and jersey milk cheeses
produced in this area. Fairview is South Africa's
largest producer of specialty cheeses.
Later, travel to Nederburg Wine Estate, for an
"Incredible Journey of Tastes". Nederburg Wine Estate's
history dates back to the 17th Century. Nederburg is
home to South Africa's most awarded wines, and also
annually hosts the internationally acclaimed Nederburg
Auction, which ranks as one of the top five wine
auctions in the world.
Lunch today takes the form of a mezze platter. Finish
off with a stop at Huguenot Fine Chocolates, where
delicious handcrafted Belgian chocolates are made as you
watch. The Belgian-trained chocolatiers produce
world-class products, and this is your opportunity to
sample some!

7 |
Today you will be taken by private transfer from
Franschhoek Country House & Villas to a farm on a full
day cookery course, including lunch at Waterfall River
Farm on the outskirts of Franschhoek. The course
includes tea or coffee and cake on arrival, a 4-course
cookery demo, followed by a sit down lunch with half a
bottle of wine per person, coffee and chocolates. The
course is run by the farm owner, Silvana Atkinson.

This morning you will have an early transfer to Cape Town Airport for your flight to Johannesburg on South African Airways. Upon arrival at Johannesburg International Airport you will then be transferred to your hotel.

After breakfast you will be transferred to Johannesburg
Airport for your scheduled flight. On arrival you will
be met and transferred to your lodge. Spend 2-nights
including all meals and two game drives daily.
Lion Sands River Lodge, in the Lion Sands Private Game
Reserve, is situated in the southern portion of the Sabi
Sand Game Reserve. The lodge, built on the banks of the
Sabie River, has 10km/6miles of Sabie River frontage
with a high concentration of game around the river
especially during the dry seasons. The 18 luxurious
thatched bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, outdoor and
inside showers and wooden viewing decks. All rooms are
air-conditioned with an overhead ceiling fan, and have a
mini-bar and telephone.
The interior is a tranquil purple and cream haven, and
the bathrooms have pebble-inlaid floors. Each bedroom
has its own deck with a view of the river and is linked
to all areas by raised wooden walkways. The lodge has a
private lounge and bar, two swimming pools, wooden
viewing decks, a secluded bird hide, private hammocks,
health spa, curio shop, and both an indoor and open-air
(Boma) dining area.
This afternoon you will take part in an open vehicle
game drive.

10 |
At daybreak, guests meet for a welcoming cup of coffee
before embarking on a dawn safari. Rangers and trackers
greet the day by pointing out the wildlife, and even the
most seasoned game viewer will learn something new and
fascinating every day. Lion Sands is the only private
game reserve to have access to the perennial Sabie
River, which it shares with the Kruger National Park.
The six miles of riverfront ensures a great diversity of
wildlife and promises an African safari of a lifetime.
It is an area of great diversity of both fauna and flora
and the chances of seeing the "Big Five" - Lion,
Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo and Leopard - are excellent.
Later relax around the swimming pool or take a siesta to
make up for the early morning wake-up call. In the late
afternoon you will be taken on another safari under the
guidance of Lion Sand's qualified game rangers and
renowned Shangaan trackers. Exceptional game viewing has
always been a trademark of Lion Sands.

Day
11 |
Go on an early morning game drive to track the animals
that may have eluded you so far, followed by breakfast.
You will then fly to Johannesburg.
On arrival at Johannesburg's Oliver Tambo International
Airport's Central Terminal Building/Terminal B, connect
with your scheduled international flight back to the
USA. (B)

Arrive in New York or Washington, DC with a lifetime of memories!
An optional round-trip charter flight on Bateleur Air is
available for an additional USD $600 per person. This
flight is from Johannesburg to and from the Lion Sands
airstrip.
