Depart from New York or Washington, DC for your flight to Windhoek, Namibia via Johannesburg, South Africa on South African Airways.

Upon arrival at Johannesburg International Airport you will go through immigration and clear customs, re-check your bags and then proceed for your onward flight to Windhoek, Namibia. Upon arrival at Windhoek Airport you will collect your Category B car rental.

You will then self drive to the Kalahari Sands Hotel and Casino in Windhoek. Accommodation will be reserved for you for one night in a standard room inclusive of breakfast.

The Kalahari Sands Hotel and Casino is centrally situated in the city of Windhoek. There are a total of 173 rooms which are decorated to blend into their earthy surroundings. The color scheme is taken from the golden hues of the dunes and combined with the reddish tones of the bushman paintings. Each room has the following amenities: air-conditioning and heating, color TV, video channel, radio, telephone, bath, shower, electric shaver plug, hairdryer, refrigerator, coffee making facilities, room service available 24 hours per day and safety deposit boxes (on request).

Resort facilities include shopping, gym, sauna, a nearby sports club offering guests golf, tennis, squash and bowls; horse-riding facilities are also in close proximity and the beautiful aqua blue pool is situated on the roof of the Hotel. The lodge offers a variety of activities. An early morning rise enables you to enjoy the ever-changing pastel colors of the beautiful scenery. Use the morning hours for an easy climb to the top of one of the adjacent granite hills or a walk in the vicinity. Explore the diverse flora and fauna, where the trees grow seemingly out of stones. Relax at the swimming pool during the heat of the day. During the late afternoon you may join a'sundowner'-drive to the natural marble mountains near the Lodge. Listen to the evening sounds of the'barking gecko' - a concert never to be forgotten. The clear night sky invites you to an unreal star-gazing experience.

The Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre was voted the best hotel in Namibia in 1995. Swakopmund's old Station Building, proclaimed a national monument in 1972, forms the central feature and reception area of the hotel. The exterior of the original building was refurbished and restored to its original condition, while its atmosphere and style were carried through to the surrounding hotel and entertainment complex. The 44 twin rooms, 30 family rooms, 14 luxury rooms and 2 luxury suites are all decorated in a Victorian style reminiscent of a bygone era of grace and civility.

Rooms have individual air-conditioning, television, tea/coffee making facilities, bathroom with bath, shower and toilet, direct dial phones, electronic safes, electric razor plugs, fully stocked mini bars, hair dryers, eight channel TV including a German channel and M-Net. Meals can be served in your room at certain times and there is a 24-hour room service snack menu.

From its beautiful vantage point overlooking a well-frequented watering point and the sweep of the African plains beyond, the well established Ongava Game Lodge is situated along the southern boundary of Etosha National Park in the privately owned Ongava Game Reserve.

Ongava is the ideal place from which to base your activities when visiting Etosha. The 12 tastefully appointed air-conditioned brick, rock and thatch chalets, each have en-suite facilities with private decks and a centrally located, shady swimming pool. Meals are either served in the main dining area under thatch with a view over the camp’s water hole or, weather permitting, on the dining deck under the stars.

Activities include game drives in open 4x4 vehicles into the Okaukuejo area of Etosha where Lion, Elephant, Cheetah, Gemsbok, Springbok, and Hartebeest can be seen at many of the water holes in the park.

In addition, night drives, hides and guided walks with armed guides are enjoyed on the private reserve. Ongava has resident White and Black Rhino, giving guests staying at Ongava the opportunity to see both species.
